how books are better than movies

In a number of ways, reading books is a more encompassing activity than watching films.

1. Character Development:

A novel allows readers to dive a little deeper into the heads and motivations of characters than a film. Therefore, readers get to relate to them at a closer level. This understanding, which is usually brought out through inner monologues, is very difficult to achieve in a movie because there are time limits.

2. Stimulating Imagination:

The reader’s imagination is encouraged by the book. Everybody makes a picture of the characters and their surroundings in their head, sometimes coming up with even better and more flamboyant images than what a motion picture could achieve. This comes into play even more when there are complex plots and sub-plots. Such things are rather difficult to portray in two hours around the world of cinema.

3. The control of Pacing Books:

is designed in such a way that a person can advance through them at his or her own speed without hurry, allowing contemplation over long sections and engaging others in conversations on the themes, thus enhancing the overall enjoyment of the story. By contrast, movies show scenes in succession without breaks for audience consideration.

4. Themes and Symbolism:

The complexity that authors are able to put in their work can be so much that the resulting themes have several layers, which makes it difficult for any critic to come up with a clear-cut analysis. Such complexities of the narrative cannot be found in the visual form, where the plot must be resolved in a certain sequence.

5. Personal Engagement:

To reading involves performing an act of intense subjectivity. Unable to put a book down, readers lose themselves in profound self-analysis and emotional effects of the story, even after its physical volume is ‘closed.’They engage the reader in a process of active mental inhabitation, an experience that films can hardly ever encourage.
